We had a good week with Wendy. We enjoyed the last couple of days handing Mary to someone else so we could go to bed and also enjoyed not having to worry about making our own meals.
There was an Arctic Freeze this week, so Wendy had to fly out Wednesday morning instead of her original plan of staying until Thursday morning. It was really good she was able to change her flight because all the Thursday flights were canceled at DFW because of all the ice and snow. She was delayed in Atlanta but was eventually able to make it to Florida for her Usborne Conference.
We checked into a hotel to avoid the same issues we experienced with the snowstorm last year. The hotel was pretty gross, even though we stayed there before and it was okay last time. The storm wasn't as bad as last year and we overreacted but better to be safe than sorry when we have a 1-month-old baby.
Paul finished writing his two abstracts for his qualifying exam. Once he passes this exam he will be awarded a master's degree and officially become a PhD candidate. It has been stressful so it was a huge accomplishment to finish the writing portion. We are grateful that the storm gave him time to be at home and focus on writing.
That first night in the hotel, we couldn't get Mary to sleep until 3:30 AM. That was really hard. The next night she slept a lot better. She likes to snuggle for a while before going to bed and she likes to press her face against my face (picture attached). It is pretty cute. I let her sleep all day on Saturday and she was literally awake from 2 AM to 6 AM. That was my fault and we spent Sunday trying to get her back on a good schedule. Please pray that she sleeps well tonight!
