You are my universe

Tuesday I went to the book club that some moms in the ward put on.  I was told the title of the book on Sunday and was able to read the whole thing by Tuesday night.  The theme for this month was a mystery and the book was The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle.  I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to finish it but I got into it enough by reading a little bit on Sunday that I wanted to finish it by the meeting.  Since it is a mystery, I knew I wouldn't be able to read it afterward because the end would be given away.  I thought it got confusing in the middle but the ending was so good that it was worth getting through.  It is the kind of book you need to take notes while reading but I would totally recommend it if you are looking for a good murder mystery.

Reach for the stars

Saturday we found a hike that we both liked called Barton Creek Greenbelt.  We've tried a few places the last few Saturdays, like a reservoir by our apartment and a lake with a boardwalk in downtown Austin, but usually only one of us liked it.  This one was a beautiful trail that followed a ravine for 8 miles.  We didn't do the whole length of the trail but we liked the portion we covered.  Mary loves our hikes.  She loves being outside and seeing new places.  She loves meeting new people and is very smiley and social.

Mary is also getting better at sitting up by herself and she is getting more mobile.  She's also been fussier this week, which is not really like her to be inconsolable.  We think she is teething because she likes chewing on her toys and our fingers and will rub her toys on her gums.  I don't see any teeth yet but I bet they will show up soon.  She is growing so much, she's in a size 3 diaper and 6 mo. clothes.
After our hike Paul noticed he got a tick bite that looked pretty bad, so we drew a circle around it and went to bed.  In the morning the bite was outside the circle, it was more red, itchy, warm to the touch, and had smaller bumps raising up.  The whole thing was hard and raised.  We went to the urgent care and they gave Paul some antibiotics to help treat it.   If it doesn't get better, we'll see a doctor for it.
