June 6-12

5 months

We've had a good week this week.  We went to the pool from Tuesday to Friday.  Mary loves the pool and playing in the water, I have to be careful though because she will try to drink the pool water sometimes.  We did all her naps in her room this week because she is getting too big for the bassinet in our room.  At the beginning of the week, she would wake up and be a little freaked out but by the end of the week, she seemed to be okay with the crib.  She has gotten really interested in food lately, so I fed her baby food almost every day.  She seemed really interested in the cabbage and less interested in the squash and carrots but it's just all so new.  She will reach for my food when she sees me eating, so I will mash up some avocado or fruit and see how she likes it.  She makes the same face every time I give her something new.  She looks like she doesn't like it but she will take more of it when I offer it to her.

Trying out the crib

During playtime, she has mostly just been interested in the quilt she plays on and in books but this week she was interested in her stuffed animals, so it was fun to see her interact with different kinds of toys.  We were reading one of her books that has animals and what sounds they make and I did the monkey sound (ee-ee-oo-oo) and she smiled so big!  Every time Paul and I make that sound to her now, she gets a huge smile on her face and she will sometimes laugh out loud.  It is so cute.  She loves going on walks and looking at trees and bushes.  At the pool, she sat and stared intently at the small green plants by the edge of the pool for about 5 minutes.  She is very vocal and loves singing and telling me stories.  She has also started clicking her tongue and loves when I do it too.

Baby Food

Wednesday Mary was on her tummy and she turned herself over onto her back all by herself!  When she started doing it I held my breath and froze to see if she would do it and she did!  I freaked out after that and she smiled and laughed while I was getting excited.  I was able to capture it on video the next day and send it to Paul and the grandparents.
Mary turned 5 months old on Friday!  I can't believe how fast the time has flown.  She has grown so much and we are really enjoying this stage with her.  She is so fun and happy and more able to interact with us.
Paul is enjoying his job a lot and we had a fun Saturday activity of going to a reservoir by our apartment and doing a 4-mile hike around it.  We also had the missionaries over for dinner on Sunday.
